When Do Puppies Open Their Eyes For The First Time

When do puppies open their eyes for the first time. Sometimes in one litter one puppy may open his eyes after 9 days while another may open his after 14 days and yet another will open his after 18 days. They aren t very aware of their surroundings however. However owners should know that the pups won t be able to see clearly at first. Well keep you updated once all have opened their eyes.
The eyes will gradually open wider revealing grayish blue eyes with a hazy appearance. The first puppy to open his eyes was snowball. Before our pups open their eyes touch and smell are the only sense organs active from birth. The average time required for a healthy small pup to open its eyes and catch hold of the light of the day is around 14 days.
The world of senses is now becoming available to them. Puppies usually spend most part of the closed eye stage snuggling with their mothers. They will also go through several other developments after they are born. Puppies open their eyes between one and two weeks after birth.
They first open one eye for a day or two then open the other eye next. Two and three week old puppies will be able to track objects with their eyes and judge how far away a toy or a moving object is. It is only in the second week that the eyes start to open slowly. At one week old puppies eyes are still closed.
It will take a bit of time for the puppies to see clearly. There is no established pattern to know when a puppy will open his eyes. Anyway you can see the puppies are beginning to open their eyes. Even when puppies open their eyes they only open one at a time.
Sometimes a pup may even open one eye before the other. But this is the average time so sometimes puppies may open their eyes a day or two earlier or later than that. Their open eyes continue to develop for several more weeks. However they won t be able to see clearly at first.
But even then two week old puppies won t see the world clearly. On average puppies open their eyes 12 16 days after birth. As the pups complete on the week the eyes remain closed. Puppies eyes will continue to develop over the next several weeks reaching full vision around eight weeks of age.
