After this kittens and cats usually need booster vaccinations every twelve months.

When should kittens be vaccinated. Rabies is the other core kitten vaccination. First year kitten vaccinations when kittens are nursing antibodies in their mother s milk help protect them from infections. Consult your vet if you have any questions about vaccination. Earlier vaccinations are not effective because kittens ingest beneficial protective antibodies in their mother s milk during the first few hours after birth but these antibodies also interfere with their responses to vaccines.

When should kittens be vaccinated. If you have kittens or puppies the first round of vaccinations usually two or three vaccines are given at around six to eight weeks old. Two vaccines are usually needed three to four weeks apart. Kittens can start their vaccinations from nine weeks old and will need a second set of injections usually 2 4 weeks after their initial set to complete their course.

The first vaccinations should be given to kittens from around eight to nine weeks of age. In most cases kittens will receive 3 vaccinations 2 4 weeks apart starting at 6 8 weeks of age. Kittens are vaccinated once every three to four weeks until they reach 16 weeks of age or older. Giving vaccines twice ensures a satisfactory level of immunity.

Kitten vaccines are usually first given at about six to eight weeks of age and repeated approximately every three weeks until about 16 to 18 weeks of age. An annual booster is recommended. Too late and kittens will be left susceptible to infection. However to avoid over vaccination most veterinarians will recommend starting the vaccine at 8 weeks of age followed by boosters at 12 weeks and 16 weeks old.

But after about six weeks old and eating solid food it s time for them to be vaccinated. This is because the antibodies in the mother s breast milk can interfere with the vaccinations. To help protect kittens they ll need two sets of vaccinations to get them started. Some vaccines might be given together in one injection that is called a combination vaccine.

The shots come in a series every 3 to 4. When should my cat be vaccinated. Kittens should start getting vaccinations when they are 6 to 8 weeks old until they are about 16 weeks old. This timing is important too early and the antibodies they receive from their mother will interfere with the immune response to the vaccine preventing it from working properly.

Kittens receive a series of vaccines over a 12 to 16 week period beginning at between 6 and 8 weeks of age. Your vet may have specific recommendations for your cat based on their lifestyle and risk factors. The final vaccine however should not be given before your pet turns sixteen weeks.
